Three Oranges

Oil on Linen

Here is the first of my still life series. As stated before, my sole objective was to attempt to paint the beauty I see using the skills I have acquired to date. I chose a simple setup and spent about 15 hours on this piece, finding my way. I wanted to portray peace and stillness, two things I highly value in life. My favorite time of day is 4:30 am, when the mind is rested and clear and the world is still.

Since embracing the 'classical realist' philosophy, I feel so much more comfortable with artmaking. To this point I have rarely been satisfied with my output, but now feel that I will be able, with this narrower focus, to endlessly expand.
