Breakfast With Monets

Pastel

I have been thinking for a while that I would like to deviate more from reality.  In other words, a more impressionistic approach.  Pastels lend themselves to making 'colored drawings' and I am choosing to head in that direction.  It is my belief that this type of art meets the viewer halfway and even requires the viewer's participation.  I painted this interior of my kitchen from memory in my studio and truly enjoyed the experience.  Also, I think art that doesn't spell everything out has more life and expression.  So, I will be traveling this road to develop my style further.

The weekly Open Studio sessions with a model are always of great value and for the moment I will probably continue a more realistic approach to the figure (maybe until I understand how to go impressionistic in that area).
